OBSESSED: TARGET

Let's talk about Target! What's not to love about Target? It may just be one of my favorite places to shop and let's not mention convenient - my Target is literally 5 minutes from my home .... which is very dangerous!!! Everyone has the classic "I went in to just get 3 things" story .... then 2 hours and $150 later; you have new throw pillows, some great sheets, more nail polish then you know what do with, and of course, some inexpensive, yet adorable duds.
A great perk to Target is that you can get current fashion trends and accessories at a great price. I (literally) just got back from wandering the clothes section at my Target and knew I just had to post just a few of the clothes and accessories I found.
As a mommy of two getting out the door in something other than yoga leggings and a baseball cap can be tricky. So below are a few fall basics that could be paired with just about anything!
Anyone who knows me knows how much a love a basic white tee. You can do so much with them! Dress it up, wear it casual, workout in it, or sleep in it... why not? My point is, these items are great multi-use staples for the fall!! Add a great riding or ankle boot to the look and presto! instant, easy fall look!

What is your favorite "must-have" Target find?

FIGHTING OFF COLDS | NATURAL + HOLISTIC SOLUTIONS

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in a few days. We are all fighting off a cold right now! Sick mommy, sick newborn, & a sick 2 year old is no fun!

Isn't it interesting how in the last 10 years or so there has been a large push for "natural." Going green, recycling, etc. There seems to be a natural remedy for just about everything. Natural is in. A few years ago it was a response to have "fake" and "plastic" everything and everyone use to be, but now it's because it's what's truly best for us. I've never been a fan of medication, so fighting off colds can be tricky. Lots of vitamins, soup, orange juice, warm baths, etc. usually is how I handle a cold. Of course, on occasion, I have to breakdown and take an antibiotic (which doesn't make me happy). Now that I have kids I definitely want to continue giving/taking the least amount of medications as possible and try the more holistic approach.

What are some natural/holistic remedies and approaches you use to get well?

GEARING UP FOR HIGH POINT MARKET

As many of you know I work for Circa Lighting in Atlanta. It's a wonderful lighting company that is growing and expanding. It has been great to see the company grow! If you like great design I suggest you check it out!
Next week, October 19th-24th,  is High Point Market!! I cannot wait to see what new furniture, home decor, and other design trends will be for 2014. For those that don't know what High Point Market (or High Point or just Market) is let me school ya! High Point Market is held in High Point, NC and possibly the largest home furnishings trade show. High Point is held every Spring and Fall which allows designers and companies to showcase their newest product lines. Orders can be placed at HP which also allow companies to get a feel for popular items before they go into production. At spring Market, Visual Comfort introduced the Aerin line from designer Aerin Lauder. What I love about her line is that its stunning, and yet effortless. You could place one piece in your room and it would enhance the look so easily.

Check out the entire collection and other collections at circalighting.com.
Check out a few of my favorite pieces.
1. mill ceiling light in gilded
2. union double arm sconce in polished nickel
3. warren table lamp in gild
4. edgemere floor lamp in gilded

Even though I'm on maternity leave I hope to hear all about Market from the ladies in our showroom. I'll be sure to update everyone with some exciting design news for 2014!

What are you most excited to see from Market?

OBSESSED: BABY MOCCASINS

Every once in awhile there things I become ridiculously obsessed with!
My current obsession are tiny moccasins! If I could afford every color and size Isla and Dean's closet would be filled with these adorable little moccs.

I recently came across some adorable Blush Leather & Elk Hide (yellow/mustard) at one of my new favorite shops, Freshly Picked. And now I'm obsessed with them!! What I love about this shop is that the moccs, beside the fact that there are sooo many beautiful colors, is that they are 100% leather and handmade in the USA. Baby moccs  a hot trend right now and can be worn with just about anything! And these could be the perfect gift as the holiday approaches or even something unique for a baby shower! Keep in mind that these are not just for girls! Boys can totally rock this too!! Some patterned leggings, warm cable knit sweater, and these stylish moccs -- you just can't go wrong!! I can't wait to get a pair for Isla and Dean!!

What's your current trendy obsession?

WORK IT, GIRL!

As most of you know we recently welcomed a beautiful little girl, Isla, into the world about 4 weeks ago. Being a new mom (even a second time) is tricky for a few reasons. Beyond caring for a newborn there is caring for yourself. The latter is much harder. Many parents understand that finding "you time" is almost impossible, but for your sanity, it must be found.

And yes, there are many different ways to take care of yourself; eating healthy, sleeping more, exercising, etc. My personal favorites are "therapeutic" shopping, mani/pedi's, and my weakness - Pinterest. None of which include the prior mentioned. I realized a long time ago that I don't like to workout or even eat healthy, but also don't like feeling unattractive or more recently, overweight. (now here comes the pity party) Yes, I just had a baby, but let's face it, no one wants to look in the mirror and not like what they see. I wanna look good naked people!

With that being said, David has started me on a workout regimen called the Spartacus Workout. He does it as a warm-up before he works out. I'm not in the kind of shape to do that, so it's my main workout! This workout is amazing and it's a killer - you can immediately feel results. I'm not trying to bulk up, I'm trying to sculpt and lean out. Also, I do everything in my living room either before the kids wake up in the morning or during their nap time. I've started slow because my body is still trying to repair itself. I do the circuit only once right now. It suggests 3x! I encourage moms (and dads) to try this workout. David swears by it (and for good reason!)

I encourage everyone to try this at least once! Post your feedback below!! I can't wait to hear what you guys think. Also, check out my "work it" board on Pinterest for some more great workouts!

JUMPING BACK IN

It's been over a year since my last post. As everyone knows a lot can, and did, happen in that time. We got engaged, moved, found news jobs, had a few vacations, and most exciting of all, we've welcomed our precious daughter into the world.

So where do i even begin?

My prior posts were mainly about interior design, due to the fact that I was in school at the time. But give it 3 years and your interest and priorities shift a bit. I still love designing and creating, but this will mainly shift into my DIY obsession, family/parenting discoveries, fashion, and personal triumphs.

I look forward to my journey and being able to share it with you!

THE NURSERY: CUSTOM BEDDING

i couldn't even being to tell you how many people i know that are preparing for a little one! i know a nursery/kids room is not the 1st thing we think about when moving into a new space, but you never know. one thing i do know is that so much about pregnancy is scary, unknown and with so many uncontrollable & unpredictable things that happening .... but there has to be something us mothers can control & have some fun with. one of my favorite, yet somehow most stressful things, was designing my son's nursery; crib, bedding, shelving/storage, all of the cute baby accessories, etc.

there are so many options for what can be done, but i knew that i wanted something completely different from what anyone else had/has/or will have! i know everyone has a different idea of what a nursery should be, but i knew what i didn't want; a matchy-matchy, adorable babied theme explosion!! i wanted something modern, fun, bold, transitional, kid-friendly...... i went to Precious Cargo in Smyrna http://www.preciouscargofurniture.com/bedding.html to just get some ideas for what i wanted to do.... and as a complete surprise David purchased everything that i designed. (*smile*) http://www.newarrivalsinc.com/ is the company that i chose to custom design my son's crib bedding, mostly because of its bright colors, fun patterns, well-made fabrics, and hand-sown products. the issue, however, with custom anything is the price. and like anything else, you get what you pay for.

so for all the mommies out there that would like some custom-made, diy designed baby bedding that won't break the bank.... then here's a truly adorable, not-so typical bedding site http://www.babybedding.com/custom Carousel designs is a great website that has some fun patterns & allows you to do just about anything while being able to envision your design with the crib, the paint color, and even your flooring. it's a great way to play around and get some ideas before fully committing to a style, color, pattern, or theme. this is a great way to get something fun & unique. and if for some reason you still need help, you can always call me!!
